Happenings around our area – Oct 22 2021 edition

Welcome to the Weekend!

Halloween isn’t until next weekend officially, but there will be a “Trunk or Treat” at Pickett Care and Rehab on Thursday evening, October 28th from 5:30-7:30PM. Everyone is welcome. Then on Saturday, October 30, the Town of Byrdstown will be hosting “Dale Holloween” at the Byrdstown Activities Park across from Town Hall. That will begin at 5PM with a Chili Cook-Off to benefit Pickett Co. Relay for Life. There will be plenty of Trunks to gather Treats from and there will be a movie – “Hocus Pocus” sponsored by Brown Funeral Chapel at 6:30PM. They will also be giving away tickets to a Tennessee Tech football game – you must be present to win. You can find more details here. Below you will find information about our Business of the Month winner.

It’s time to reserve ad space in the 2022 Dale Hollow Explorer! The deadline is to be October 29th. If anyone would like to advertise this year at a discounted rate, please give us a call. We don’t have to have the ad completed at that time, just space reserved.

The Byrdstown – Pickett County Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate Dale Hollow Marine for being selected as the business of the month for October 2021.

Ken Feaster worked for the original owner of Dale Hollow Marine before purchasing the business seven years ago. Originally from Bedford, PA, Ken and his sister Trisha run the marine service business together along with two other service techs. Ken now lives in Alpine, TN and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.

Dale Hollow Marine was part of the chamber through the previous owners and Ken has continued to be a member since he purchased the business. He has provided several door prizes and other items for our local fishing tournaments.

Ken feels his business is growing and continuing to grow. In the past two years it has exploded due to COVID-19 with folks buying boats and other watercraft and it has kept his business very busy.

Ken says word of mouth is promoting his business right now. He has 250 watercraft he is winterizing currently and expects more before he closes next month. Most people think he is a storage facility and not a marine repair shop. He hopes the chamber can help him promote his business once the new LED sign is installed.

Ken also wants everyone to know they are open every day but Wednesday; yes that means they are there to repair watercraft on Sunday! They had a boat which had sunk on a Sunday morning, with the assistance of others, they raised the boat, got it into the shop and had the guys back out on the water Sunday afternoon.

Dale Hollow Marine, their website is https://dalehollowmarine.com or visit them at 1480 Cordell Hull Memorial Drive Byrdstown, TN 931-864-3252. Open Monday-Tuesday, Thursday-Saturday 9 am – 4 pm, Sunday 8 am – 12 pm. Closed Wednesday’s. Open every holiday unless it falls on a Wednesday.

Remember not just a storage facility, but a marine store and a watercraft repair service!
