Leisure Services offering youth volleyball league

COOKEVILLE – Cookeville Leisure Services is gearing up for a new youth volleyball league.

The league is for girls and boys ages 7- 15, and games will be played on Saturday mornings, Feb. 5-March 26, at Cane Creek Gymnasium. Registration opens Dec. 6.

“We are excited to be offering this league for the first time and hope it provides the best experience for participants, coaches, volunteers, officials and parents,” Seth Bruton, Leisure Services athletic superintendent, said. “We want the sport of volleyball to continue to grow in this community.”

Following registration, players will participate in an evaluation Jan. 22 at Cane Creek Gymnasium. From there, teams will be drafted.

“We hope participants learn the concepts of volleyball and gain an interest in one of the fastest growing sports in the country,” Bruton said.

Player fees are $35 for ages 7-9 and $45 for ages 10-15.

Sponsorship opportunities are as follows: team sponsor, $200; facility sponsor, $250 (signage in gymnasium); and combo sponsor, $400 (uniform and signage in gymnasium).

“Sponsorships are a great way for businesses and organizations to be involved in the league while also gaining recognition,” Bruton said. “It will help us purchase necessary equipment and take care of other league expenses.”
