Upperman senior Brooklyn Crouch made it official on Wednesday, as she signed her national letter of intent to play basketball at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.

The Lady Bees’ point guard announced her commitment last season on Dec. 28 on Twitter, in the midst of helping lead Upperman to a 29-2 season that included a regular season district crown and a district tournament championship.

Crouch has been the District 8AA Defensive Player of the Year the last two seasons as well.

“I’m very excited,” Crouch said. “I can’t wait to get to UTC and be with my coaches and team, but I’m also really excited for (Upperman’s) season this year. That’s what I’m most excited for.”

The recruiting process was a short one for Crouch, as she says she feels like she built a good relationship with the coaches.

“I just really connected very well with the coaches there,” Crouch said. “I didn’t go through a whole lot, but I just really loved the coaches, and the campus is great. I just think the environment is a really good place for me, and I fit in there.”

Crouch has already built a successful high school career for herself ahead of the 2021-22 campaign, as her coach gives nothing but glowing reviews about her.

“Brooklyn is a great player, it’s easy to see on the court,” said UHS head coach Dana McWilliams. “She’s such a great kid, and she’s a great student here…she’s probably the hardest worker that I’ve ever coached. She’s always giving you all she has, whether it’s practice, a game, whatever it is. We’re really excited for her.”

Crouch is focused on her senior year for the Lady Bees, as they get started next week.
