Monterey 0 – Hampton 21
The Wildcats’ season came to an end on the road at Hampton.
The Wildcats turned the ball over twice in the first quarter, including a fumble on the first play from scrimmage. The Bulldogs capitalized with two touchdowns to take a 14-0 lead.
The Wildcats struggled to sustain drives throughout the game. The Bulldogs then finished the win with a touchdown on a QB keeper in the fourth quarter to make it 21-0.
The Wildcats ended the season with a 6-5 record.
Soddy Daisy 7 – Upperman 46
The Bees used a third quarter offensive explosion to roll into the second round of the postseason.
Sophomore tailback Jaxson Rollins tallied five total touchdowns as the Bees rolled past the Trojans.
The UHS defense got two interceptions on the first two SDHS drives, and after the second Rollins took in his first touchdown of the night to make it 7-0.
Rollins then extended the lead with a 54-yard touchdown rush in the second quarter, but the Trojans struck back with an 11-yard touchdown pass to make it 14-7 at halftime.
The UHS rushing attack took over in the third quarter as Rollins rushed for two more touchdowns in the frame and added a fumble return for a touchdown. Terrance Dedmon added two rushing touchdowns as the Bees scored 32 points in the frame and cruised to the win.
The Bees will host a familiar foe in round two as they will host the DeKalb County Tigers. DCHS knocked off East Hamilton 35-21 on the road in the first round. Colby Barnes rushed for two touchdowns in the game as they set up a rematch against Upperman. The Bees won the regular season matchup 24-14.
Kickoff between the Bees and Trojans is set for 7 p.m. Friday night.
