Monterey senior Adaline Clouse is headed to Maryville upon graduation, as she signed her national letter of intent to play basketball for the Lady Scots.

“I’m really excited, I can’t wait to go play for Coach (Darrin Travillian) at Maryville,” Clouse said. “I think it’s going to be really fun.”

The recruiting process was an interesting one for Clouse, and she says the difference was the constant communication and positive presence she felt from the Maryville coaches.

“They contact me after I went to a camp over the summer,” Clouse said. “I mainly chose Maryville because it’s a smaller campus and it’s closer to home. They focus on academics and make sure that you are caught up on your grades…(Travillian) contacted me when I made all-district and told me congratulations.”

For her current head coach, Clouse’s signing is a big deal for the entire program, as she hopes that it inspires other girls to push themselves to reach this goal.

“It’s really awesome just to know that our girls have that potential to go play college ball,” said Michelle Farley-Carson. “It’s exciting, and she’s one that I know has worked hard all four years…if any other year was as good as this year that she’s had, she’s going in the right direction. I think this opens doors for our program.”

Farley-Carson likes the fit, citing that Maryville’s constant communication and interest in Clouse are why she thinks the two are meant for each other.

“I think she’ll fit it, the coach seems to be checking in on her every week,” Farley-Carson said. “For me as a coach, that means a lot because it means he cares about her…I know she’ll be in good hands with them.”

As far as today goes, Clouse hopes that her signing can make an impact on players for years to come at Monterey.

“I really hope that this inspires them to let them know that they can do what I’m doing,” Clouse said.
