Auditions Announced for “Blood Heat” at Good Neighbors Theatre

Good Neighbors Theatre is sending out a casting call for a very special play. “Blood Heat” has been written especially for GNT by Dr. J. Edward Gore of Nashville with arrangements through Judy Martin-Urban, local historian and novelist. GNT is excited to have Rachael Winningham directing this locally historically based play on the GNT stage.

Auditions will be Monday, March 7, and Tuesday, March 8, both at 7:00 PM at Good Neighbors Theatre, located at 8780 Highway 111 in Byrdstown, TN.  There are 14 men’s parts and three women’s parts available. All roles are for adults 18 years of age and above. Some parts do not require many lines for those who want to get involved with acting, but don’t have stage experience.

Rehearsals will be Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Performances will be June 3, 4, and 5 with a possible extension to June 10, 11, and 12. For those interested in helping with set design, construction, costuming, and other behind-the-scenes work, please come to the auditions and sign up for your interest.

The play centers around the happening in our area in the early days of the War Between the States, more commonly known as the Civil War. It takes place about the time of the Affair at Travisville, the first military action of the Civil War in Tennessee right along our Tennessee/Kentucky border in Pickett County. GNT produced “Blood Along the Wolf” in October 2010, also based on this time period and each performance was a total sellout, so this play also based on local legend and notorious Confederate cavalry raider, Champ Ferguson, is expected to be very popular as well.

Good Neighbors Theatre is an equal opportunity provider and employer.  Projects are partially funded under a grant contract with the State of Tennessee.

Cordell Hull Birthplace Museum State Park  has a variety of events/programs on a regular basis. Learn a new craft/skill or fine tune and old one. Check them out!
