Cookeville High School released the following statement Tuesday morning regarding their boys basketball coaching position:

“Cookeville High School is excited to announce that Matt Hill has been named the interim basketball coach for the Cavaliers Boys Basketball Team effective Tuesday, 7/23. Coach Hill has served as an assistant coach in the program for 18 years. Matt began his coaching career as a volunteer coach after his graduation from CHS in 2006. He attended Tennessee Technological University and was in Business Management for his undergrad and his Masters in Curriculum and Instruction at TTU. Matt was hired at CHS as an English teacher during the 2015-16 school year.

Coach Hill is excited and honored to be the coach of his alma mater.  He is grateful for the support of the administration, school community and Cookeville.  He can’t wait to get started and continue building on the foundation of Cookeville Boys Basketball.

Cookeville High School administration would like to thank Coach Josh Heard for an amazing five years as the CHS Head Basketball Coach. Coach Heard through his teaching and coaching has made an amazing impact on many students and players at CHS and the Cookeville community. We wish Coach Heard and his family a wonderful future.”
