The Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats gained their first win of the season against the Stone Memorial Lady Panthers in a 10-0 victory on Tuesday night in softball action.

In the first inning, the Lady Wildcats got their offense started by driving in three runs. The offense continued as the Lady Wildcats recorded four more runs in the second inning. To wrap up the game one run was scored in the third inning, and the last two runs were scored in the fifth inning to make the score 10-0.

“This is how they are supposed to play,” said LA head coach Kacy Bennett. “The past couple of games they just haven’t been in the right charge, but they came out today and they did what they were supposed to do.”

Senior Jazlyn Flowers drove in six runs in the Lady Wildcats’ win. Flowers went 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in runs on a double in the first, a home run in the second and a triple in the fifth.

Sabrina Garrett didn’t allow a run, throwing a shutout against the Lady Panthers. Garett pitched five innings, allowing two hits, zero runs and struck out two batters.

“They did their job tonight,” said Bennet. “Jaz did her job, Emma did her job, Sabrina pitched a great game. Nobody did anything bad so it was pretty good.”

The Lady Wildcats will travel to Cookeville at 5 p.m. on Thursday night for a non district matchup.

“I think (the first district win) just gives them a little bit of confidence that they needed,” said Bennett. “I am super happy for them.”
