The White County Warriorettes dominated the Van Buren County Eaglettes in a 10-0 victory on Monday night in softball action.

The Warriorettes raced out to an early lead, leading 3-0 after the first inning. Seniors Caydra Parker and Addison Abell drove in three runs in the second inning, including a home run by Parker. Two more runs were recorded in both the fourth and sixth inning to make the final 10-0.

“We got the job done,” said WCHS head coach Jerry Roberts. “We had some good quality at bats and Greta threw a good game. She had us off balance a little bit. We got a big game tomorrow night so we just wanted to get some swings in.”

Junior Abigayle Finan, Parker and Abell had multiple hits for the Warriorettes. The Warriorettes did not commit an error in the field. Finan had 11 chances in the field, the most on the team.

Senior Ashlynn Phillips threw a shutout, allowing two hits and zero runs over six innings. She struck out 11 batters and walked one.

“She is big,” said Roberts. “She just helps with Addison, and Ashlynn and Addison it’s good to have that one two punch to be able to get through games.”

The Warriorettes will travel to DeKalb County on Tuesday night at 5 p.m. in a district matchup.

“We still got to swing the bat,” said Roberts. “We are not hitting it like we need to be. I just want good quality at bats and hitting the ball better.”
