The Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats will play for a state tournament berth Thursday following their runner-up finish in Tuesday’s Region 4AA tourney.
Livingston defeated Soddy Daisy 3-1 in Tuesday’s semifinal match before falling to Signal Mountain that evening in the championship, 3-0.
Signal Mountain qualified for the championship by defeating Upperman in 5 sets, ending the Lady Bees’ season in the region semifinals.
LA’s semifinal against Soddy Daisy saw the Lady Wildcats win the first set 25-21 and the second 25-22. Soddy Daisy bounced back to take the third, 25-23, before Livingston closed out the victory in the fourth set, 25-19.
In the ensuing matchup, Upperman and Signal Mountain traded set victories before the Lady Eagles won the 5th, 15-11.
Signal Mountain rode the semifinal victory’s momentum into a strong district championship showing as they defeated Livingston in straight sets: 25-14, 25-16 and 25-19.
Despite falling in the championship, Livingston Academy will travel to East Hamilton Thursday evening for a Class AA sectional contest against the Hurricanes.
A win Thursday would qualify LA for the Class AA state volleyball tournament Oct. 18-21 at Siegel High School.
