The York Dragonettes picked up their 12th consecutive win Saturday afternoon as they defeated the Page Lady Patriots in the Kay Maynard State Farm Showcase in Lebanon, 41-34.

York (17-2, 1-0) trailed by 5 points in the second half before pulling away in the fourth quarter.

“We were sloppy right off the bat and didn’t take care of the ball well,” said York head coach Michael Green. “We couldn’t keep them off the foul line. I kept telling the girls if we get the lead in the fourth quarter we’re going to win.”

Reese Beaty scored 16 points to lead the Dragonettes with 11 of her 16 coming from the free-throw line. Sister Gabby Beaty was also in double figures with 12 points.

York opened the game with a 7-0 run before Page answered with 7 straight points of their own to tie the game at the end of the first period, 7-7. The Dragonettes held a one-possession lead at halftime, 18-15.

It was Page who took control early in the second half as the Lady Patriots held a 30-25 lead midway through the third quarter. York was able to cut their lead to one point by the end of the period, 29-28.

With the Dragonettes trailing 30-28 with 6:30 to go, Gabby Beaty scored four consecutive points to retake the lead for York, 32-30.

Page answered to tie the game at 32 with 5:33 remaining. York retook the lead, 34-32, on the ensuing possession via two Reese Beaty free throws. The Dragonettes never surrendered their lead again as they closed the game out on a 7-2 run to win 41-34.

The UCR #2 (AP #3) Dragonettes return to District 5AA play next as they travel to Monterey (11-10) Tuesday evening.
