Livingston Beats Stone For 8th Straight Win, 57-40

The Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats hit the road to Crossville and left with a 57-40 victory over Stone Memorial Tuesday evening.

Livingston (16-3, 6-0) was led by sophomore guard Ellie Butler, who poured in 23 points in the victory.

Stone Memorial led 9-8 midway through the first period before LA closed the first quarter on an 11-0 run to lead 21-9 going into the second period.

LA led 24-14 early in the frame before a Stone Memorial run cut the Lady Wildcats’ lead to 24-19 via a Kortney Headrick transition layup with 3:30 remaining in the second quarter.

The Lady Panthers stayed within striking distance as they trailed 27-21 at halftime.

Livingston’s halftime adjustments were effective as they outscored Stone Memorial 17-9 in the third period to take a 46-28 lead into the fourth quarter, where they closed strong to win 57-40.

Up next, the Lady Wildcats hit the court against a familiar foe in rival Pickett County on Thursday.

Stone Memorial falls to 7-15 overall and 0-6 in district play and hits the road to DeKalb County on Friday.
