Midseason Report Card: White County Warriorettes and Warriors

With basketball season in full swing and district play ramping up, UCR’s Rusty Ellis and Michael Lindsay have graded each team’s performance to this point. Grades were decided upon using multiple factors including win-loss records, quality of wins and preseason expectations for each school.

Warriorettes: A

Overall Record: 15-3

Key Wins: Meigs County, Sevier County, Warren County, Upperman

Reasoning: 15-3 against White County’s gauntlet of a schedule deserves a high grade, and the Warriorettes have earned just that. White County’s losses have come against state tournament-caliber opponents.

How to Improve: White County already has one of the highest grades in the UC. Going up to the rare A+ would require the Warriorettes to win District 7AAA. The standards for White County are high as they’re a team with Murfreesboro potential.

Warriors: B-

Overall Record: 9-7

Key Wins: DeKalb County, Van Buren County, Bradford

Reasoning: The Warriors have a bit lower score than some might expect. This White County team has unlimited potential, and we’d like to see more out of them. Close losses to Upperman and East Nashville show where the team can be, but White County needs to close those games out.

How to Improve: White County’s grade can improve as they find their footing and get back to the basketball they’re capable of. The Warriors have playmakers across their lineup and a great coaching staff. White County living up to its potential would have them competing for a state tournament berth (and an improved UCR grade).
