The Jackson County Lady Devils are back in the win column as they defeated Sequatchie County 50-35 in the District 5-2A consolation game Monday night at Monterey.
Jalynn Meadows led Jackson County with 14 points, followed by Claire Williams with 11.
After a neck-and-neck first period, a Jackson County and-one by Meadows gave the Lady Devils a 14-8 advantage with 7:22 remaining in the second quarter.
Sequatchie County cut Jackson County’s lead to 4 points (19-15) midway through the second before back-to-back steals and free throws from Isabella Beaty and Reece Thomas put Jackson County ahead 26-15 at halftime.
Jackson County pushed their lead out to 37-20 with 3:00 left in the third period via 3 consecutive three-pointers from Williams, Beaty and Thomas.
The Lady Devils held a 39-24 lead after three quarters before cruising through the fourth to win by a 50-35 final.
Jackson County automatically qualifies for the Region 3-2A tournament, where they’ll travel to the loser of the District 6-2A championship between Cannon County and Westmoreland.
