The Cookeville Lady Cavs and Cavaliers were well-represented in the District 9AAAA regular season awards on Tuesday.

Cassie Gallagher was voted as the 9AAAA girls MVP award winner, while Jordan Gillies was named the Defensive Player of the Year. She was also named to the All-District First Team, along with Allie Gillies, and Isabel Garcia and Macy Hudson were each given Second Team honors.

Garcia and Gallagher were each also named the Defensive Team. Head coach Jamie Gillies was named the Coach of the Year for the girls side of the district as well.

The Lady Cavs wrapped up the season on Monday with a dominant 69-34 win over second-place Lebanon, securing the number-one seed for the tournament, as well as a spot in the region tournament. Cookeville will face the winner of Mt. Juliet/Wilson Central at home, as the semifinals and championship games will be played at CHS.

For the boys, Josh Heard was named to the All-District First Team, while Jalen Heard, Jaren Davis and Bennett Reeves each made the All-District Second Team.

Cookeville is coming off of their biggest win of the season to this point, as they knocked off Lebanon 68-62 on Monday evening. This locked the Cavs into third-place in the district and sets them up for a semifinal rematch against the Blue Devils on Saturday at 3:30 P.M. at Cookeville High School.
