The White County Warriors finished up regular season play Friday evening as they won at Cumberland County, 57-39.
White County finished fourth in District 7AAA play and had their spot locked in prior to Friday’s game in Crossville.
“It was a really good win on the road for us,” said White County head coach Eric Mitchell. “The Jets had a big win over DeKalb County up here (on Tuesday). It was a pride game because everything is set for us. We’ve played pretty well the last few games. It’s the right time, and hopefully, that carries over to next Thursday.”
White County (18-10, 7-5) was led by 21 points from Jake Davis and 11 by Thomas Bock. Cumberland County (5-23, 3-9) was led in scoring by Braeden Woodard, who posted 17 points.
The Warriors controlled the game from the opening tip as they led 16-5 after one quarter.
“We knocked down some shots, but our defensive effort was as good as it’s been all year in that first quarter,” Mitchell said.
White County pushed their lead out to 23-5 via a Logan Dickerson three-pointer with 5:51 remaining in the second period. The Warriors led 29-11 at halftime.
Both offenses were efficient in the third quarter as the Warriors held a 48-28 lead going into the fourth quarter where they finished off a 57-39 District 7AAA win.
White County is off until next week’s District 7AAA tournament while Cumberland County hosts Clarkrange (5-25, 1-7) on Saturday evening.
