CHS’ Bundrant Signs To Play Volleyball At Alabama-Huntsville

Cookeville senior Mary Grace Bundrant made her commitment to the University of Alabama-Huntsville official on Friday, as she signed her NLI to play Volleyball at UAH after graduation.

For Bundrant, it’s an exciting day to begin looking forward to what her life after high school looks like.

“I’m feeling super excited,” Bundrant said. “I’m excited for what my future holds at UAH.”

Bundrant felt welcomed at the school when she visited, and cited that as one of the main reasons for her commitment.

“I just felt like they had everything for me, academically and athletically,” Bundrant said. “I love the campus, I loved the environment and I loved the players and coaches that I got to meet.”

Chris Bell coached Bundrant this past season, and says that it was her work ethic and attitude that got her where she is now.

“Mary Grace was the one that set the tone for us,” Bell said. “She’s a 6-2 player, so she’s going to be dominant, but her attitude off the court was phenomenal. The future is very bright for her, and I expect that she’ll go far…out of all the players I’ve coached, she’s one of the best.”

Bell also believes that she’ll fit in well at UAH.

“It’s a good program, and she’ll be in good hands,” Bell said. “She said she felt like God wanted her there, and if God wants her there, it’s bound to be the right place and she’ll be great there.”

Bundrant says she’ll miss the family vibes around the CHS program, but she’s looking forward to making new connections at UAH.

“I’m going to miss my teammates here, especially the ones I’ve played with for years,” Bundrant said. “I’ve gotten to know them on a personal level, but I’m excited to meet new people and I’m super excited to go play with players that have more experience.”
