The Macon County Tigerettes are peaking at the right time as they recorded 26 hits in 5 innings during Monday’s 15-0 victory at Livingston Academy.
The run-rule victory officially locked up the District 7-3A overall #1 seed for the Tigerettes as postseason play starts later this week.
Macon County’s Ellie Coley picked up the win in the circle as she struck out 5 Lady Wildcats and gave up 0 earned runs in Monday’s victory.
All 9 Tigerette starters recorded at least two hits Monday led by shortstop Macy Meador and Coley, who each went 4-5 at the plate. Meador drove in 4 runs and had 2 doubles while Coley recorded 3 runs scored.
Livingston Academy’s Emma Dulworth went 2-2 with a triple against Macon County.
The Tigerettes took control early as they posted 5 runs in the top of the first inning as hits by Journey Beasley, Cadence Carter and Katie Shockley drove in runs to give Macon County a 5-0 advantage.
After one run in the second and none in the third, Macon County held a 6-0 lead entering the fourth inning before posting 3 more in the frame.
A Shockley bunt and Meador single drove in Kenley Roark, Cadence Davenport and Shockley to put Macon County ahead 9-0 after 4 innings.
The Tigerettes kept their foot on the gas in the top of the fifth as they scored 6 runs to take a 15-0 advantage going to the bottom half of the frame. Coley kept Livingston Academy off the scoreboard one last time to preserve Macon County’s 15-0 victory and give the Tigerettes the top spot in District 7-3A.
Macon County finishes the 2023 regular season at 14-10 overall and 11-1 in district play. The Tigerettes will host the upcoming District 7-3A tournament later this week; details will be shared when available.
