Livingston Volleyball Opens Week With Sweep of Gordonsville

By Michael Lindsay

The Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats started their week on the right track Monday afternoon by earning a sweep of Gordonsville in non-district volleyball action, 3-0.

“Lainey Dishman and Kenley Webb played well,” said Livingston head coach Christie Jenkins. “My libero Sydney Moffitt and Cora Copeland did pretty good tonight also.”

The Lady Wildcats won the first set 25-13 capped off by a Copeland kill for the final point. LA withstood runs by Gordonsville in the second and third sets but held on to win them by a 25-19 and 25-17 margin.

“We’re not playing our best right now,” Jenkins said. “We’re better than how we’re playing right now. We just have to get some experience.”

Livingston Academy opens District 7AA volleyball play at home tomorrow against a familiar foe in Upperman. The programs met in the district title game last season where the Lady Wildcats defeated the Lady Bees in the fifth set, 15-9.

“I’d rather have them first,” Jenkins said. “Win or lose, it’s going to make us better no matter what.”

Upperman at Livingston Academy is set to begin at 5 p.m. and will be livestreamed as the UCR Volleyball Game of the Week at www.facebook.com/uppercumberlandreporter.
