Livingston Falls To Tullahoma In Region Semifinals

by Rusty Ellis

The Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats saw their season come to an end in a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Tullahoma in Tuesday’s Region 4-2A Semifinal match.

Both teams were held off the scoreboard until Tullahoma struck in the 46th minute for the first goal of match.

The visiting Lady Wildcats added their second goal in the 68th minute, and though Livingston managed a couple close attempts late, they just couldn’t break through and fell 2-0 to end the season.

For head coach Heather Marshall, it wraps up a successful first season that saw her Lady Wildcats dominate the district and clinch home-field for the region tournament.

As she says, all the credit goes to the visitors for taking advantage of their chances when they had them.

“We were pretty evenly matched, they just took advantage of their chances and we didn’t,” Marshall said. “That’s what matches like this come down to, you can’t take anything away from Tullahoma.”

The Lady Wildcats had goals of making it back to the State Tournament in Chattanooga, but even though they didn’t achieve that goal, Marshall is quick to mention how proud she is of everything the girls accomplished.

“We had some really tough games, and I didn’t make it easy on them,” Marshall said. “This is a special group of girls and they had a special bond. I hate that it ended this way.”

It wraps up the high school careers of Clarke Officer, Jazmine West, Sienna Milligan, Ella Tripp and Kaylee Pryor, and Marshall knows it’ll be a tough group to replace.

“Just their personalities, they’re a very unique group of seniors,” Marshall said. “That’s what I’ll miss most about them, I’m just at a loss for words right now.”
