The Webb Spartans and Lady Spartans left Crossville with a pair of victories Monday evening as they swept Stone Memorial to start the week.
Girls
The Webb Lady Spartans overcame an early 12-point deficit Monday evening as they pulled away with a 67-48 victory at Stone Memorial.
Webb’s Cailyn Taylor led the Lady Spartans with 21 on 7 three-pointers. Kortney Headrick led Stone Memorial with 14 points along with 12 by Kailee Waldo.
Stone Memorial controlled the early portions of Monday’s game as a Kailee Waldo layup off an inbounds gave the Lady Panthers an 8-2 lead with 4:54 left in the opening frame.
A pair of Adison Howard free throws with 21 seconds left in the first put the Lady Panthers ahead 19-6 before Webb reeled off 5 points at the end of the period to trail 19-11 after one.
Webb’s hot streak continued into the second quarter as the Lady Spartans opened the frame on a 10-0 run to take a 21-19 lead with 4:55 left until halftime.
The Lady Spartans kept their lead for the rest of the half as a Headrick buzzer beater cut Stone Memorial’s deficit to 31-25 at halftime.
Webb controlled the third quarter as they outscored Stone Memorial 18-6 out of the break to take a 49-31 lead after three quarters before closing out to win by a 67-48 final score.
Stone Memorial falls to 3-5 overall and will play at Oak Ridge on Friday in the 5 Star Preps Hoop Jam.

The Stone Memorial Panthers fell to the Webb School of Knoxville Monday evening as the Spartans pulled away for a 77-69 victory.
Panther junior guard Cade Capps poured in 37 points against Webb including 6 three-pointers. Drake Ingram led the Spartans with 27.
Capps hit a career milestone early in the first quarter as a free throw with 5:19 remaining in the first period marked his 1,500th career point.
After a back-and-forth start to the contest, Webb pulled ahead to a 20-15 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Spartans pushed their advantage out to double-digits by halftime, 37-27.
Stone Memorial pulled within 2 points midway through the third period as back-to-back three-pointers by Capps cut the Spartan lead to 43-41. Webb withstood the run as they took a 57-48 lead into the fourth quarter despite Capps hitting five three-pointers in the third period.
The Spartans opened the fourth quarter to push their lead other 60-48 before Stone battled back within 6 points late. Webb closed out strong from the free-throw line to win by a 77-69 final score.
Stone Memorial falls to 7-2 overall and will face defending Class 3A champion Fulton on Friday in the 5 Star Preps Hoop Jam at Oak Ridge.
