Eight Upper Cumberland Girls Teams Advance To Region Championships, Sectional Round

Eight Upper Cumberland girls basketball teams will have a shot at a region championship and state tournament berth in their respective classes following Monday night’s region semifinal round. Each girls team will play in their respective region championship on Wednesday followed by their sectional matchup on Saturday.

Region semifinal results and championship matchups are as follows:

Region 3-1A

Van Buren County defeated Sale Creek 70-38 and will face Copper Basin in the Region 3-1A championship at Van Buren. Potential sectional opponents are Pickett County and Clay County.

Region 3-2A

Smith County defeated Westmoreland 47-21 while York Institute defeated Jackson County 59-22. The teams will face off in the region championship Wednesday at 7 p.m. Liberty Creek. Potential sectional opponents are East Nashville and Pearl Cohn.

Region 4-1A

Pickett County defeated Clarkrange 72-47 while Clay County defeated East Robertson, 60-56. The teams will face off in the region championship Wednesday at 7 p.m. Livingston Academy. Potential sectional opponents are Van Buren County and Copper Basin.

Region 4-3A

White County defeated Stone Memorial 56-48 while Upperman defeated Lawrence County 53-26. The teams will face off in the region championship Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Tullahoma High School. Potential sectional opponents are Heritage and Signal Mountain.

Region 5-3A

Macon County defeated Portland 37-36 and will face Station Camp in the Region 5-3A championship on Wednesday. Potential sectional opponents are Chester County and Jackson South Side.
