Three Upper Cumberland boys basketball teams are set to compete on the state’s biggest state next week as Cookeville, Gordonsville and Upperman each clinched state tournament berths via sectional victories Monday night.
A look at each team’s sectional win and what’s next at state available below:
Class 1A
Gordonsville defeated South Pittsburg last night, 59-45, to advance to the Class 1A state tournament next week. The Tigers will face Memphis Middle College on Wednesday, March 13 at 7:15 p.m.
Class 3A
The Upperman Bees clinched a state tournament berth Monday evening evening as they defeated South Doyle, 66-46. Upperman is scheduled to play Hume-Fogg on Thursday, March 14 at 7:15 p.m.
Class 4A
The Cookeville Cavaliers clinched their first state tournament berth in program history Monday evening as they defeated Bradley Central, 69-60. The Cavaliers will face Maryville in the Class 4A quarterfinals on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.
