The White County Warriors picked up a pair of wins in Jamestown on Saturday as they defeated York Institute and Pickett County during York’s inaugural York Wood Bat Invitational.
White County opened the day with a 3-0 victory over York before defeating Pickett County in game two, 11-1.
Junior pitcher Trenton Wilson tossed a complete-game shutout in game one for the Warriors as he gave up 6 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2 batters in 7 innings.
Kason Seal led White County at the plate as he went 2-2 with a run scored and an RBI.
Seal’s run came in the top of the second inning as a grounder by Cole Gentry and error from the Dragons allowed him to reach home and give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.
White County tacked on two runs in the top of the sixth as an Eli Smith single scored Austin Pionke followed by a Seal single to score Smith, giving the Warriors the 3-0 victory.
The Warriors earned a run-rule victory in game two as they defeated Pickett County 11-1 in 5 innings.
Jack Everett went 3-3 with 3 runs scored, a triple and a double in the victory.
After a scoreless first inning, White County scored 7 runs in the second before posting 3 in the fourth and one in the fifth to pick up the 11-1 victory.
Up next, York is scheduled to play at Livingston Academy on Monday while White County is scheduled to host Whitwell on Thursday. Pickett County is scheduled to host Red Boiling Springs in District 7-1A play.
