The Upperman Bees finished their week in the win column Saturday afternoon as they shut out Gordonsville, 10-0.
Upperman junior Alec Wilson picked up the victory on the mound as he surrendered only one hit and no runs in 5 innings while striking out three and walking one.
Senior shortstop Caden Shanks and outfielder Chris Wirsing each went 3-4 to lead the Bees at the plate. Shanks recorded a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored while Wirsing hit two doubles along with two RBIs and a run scored.
After two scoreless innings, Upperman got on the board in the bottom of the third as a Shanks triple scored Justin Fallon followed by a Wirsing double to score Shanks.
The Bees tacked on a run in the bottom of the fourth as an Evan Huddleston single to center scored Braden Green, giving Upperman a 3-0 lead after four innings.
The floodgates opened in the bottom of the fifth inning as Upperman recorded seven runs in the frame to take a 10-0 lead. Hits by Julian Llano, Rookie Allison, Fallon, Shanks and Wirsing along with a sacrifice fly by Huddleston each scored at least one run for the Bees in the frame as they won via run rule after 5 innings.
Upperman improves to 12-8 overall and is scheduled to play at Cumberland County in District 7-3A play on Monday. Gordonsville is set to host Red Boiling Springs Monday.
