Kailey Plumlee Hits 3-Run Homer, Strikes Out 6 As Gordonsville Defeats RBS, 19-0

The Gordonsville Tigerettes picked up their fifth District 7-1A victory of the season Thursday afternoon as they defeated Red Boiling Springs 19-0 in three innings.

University of Tennessee commit Kailey Plumlee recorded the victory in the circle as she struck out all six of the batters she faced in the first two innings while surrendering no hits or walks. Callie Dillard pitched the third inning and recorded three strikeouts to seal the victory.

Plumlee went 2-2 at the plate with 6 RBIs, a three-run home run and a double. Makenzie Herron also went 2-2 with 3 RBIs, 2 runs scored and a double.

Gordonsville opened the contest with 8 runs in the bottom of the first including Plumlee’s 3-run homer to center. The Tigerettes followed with 11 runs in the bottom of the second before shutting out RBS in the third inning to win 19-0.

Gordonsville improves to 12-3 overall and 5-0 in District 7-1A play. Up next, the Tigerettes are scheduled to host defending Class 4A state champion Green Hill on Monday.
