KJ Anderson Homers As Cookeville Defeats White County In 5 Innings, 10-0

The Cookeville Cavaliers opened their week with a run-rule victory Monday afternoon as they defeated White County 10-0 in 5 innings.

Andrew Corbeil and KJ Anderson each went 2-3 in the victory. Anderson recorded 4 RBIs, 2 runs scored and a X-run home run while Corbeil posted an RBI, a run scored and two doubles.

Pitcher Gernt Martin recorded the victory as he struck out 3 batters while surrendering 2 hits, no walks and no runs in four and one-third innings.

The Cavaliers opened the contest with four runs with two outs in the bottom of the first inning as a single by Anderson and bases-clearing double from Avyn Maddux gave Cookeville a 4-0 advantage.

Cookeville tacked on a run in the bottom of the third inning before scoring five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 10-0 lead. A Corbeil double scored two runs before Anderson delivered a three-run blast to right field to put his team ahead 10-0.

Monday wrapped up the regular season for both teams as they now turn their attention to their respective district tournaments. White County is scheduled to travel to DeKalb County on Wednesday while Cookeville will host LaVergne at 6 p.m.
