The Cumberland County Lady Jets improved to 6-1 in District 7-2A play Monday evening as they opened the week with a sweep at DeKalb County, 3-0.
“We played great today,” said Cumberland County head coach Rodney Howard. “DeKalb is a first-year program this year and they use a lot of misdirection. We played that well, but overall we need to execute at the net better.”
The Lady Jets won the first set 25-13 before taking the second set 25-6 and closing the sweep with a 25-9 victory in the third.
“Dalayna Inman played that first set well,” said coach Howard. “Her, Tessa Hayes and our setters (Laila Howard and Carlee Williams) played great. If they play good, everybody’s going to play good.”
Cumberland County improves to 22-5 overall and hosts non-district foe Meigs County on Tuesday before hosting current District 7-2A leader Stone Memorial on Thursday.
