Four girls region tournament championship plaques are headed to the Upper Cumberland following Wednesday’s title games as Clarkrange, York Institute, White County and Cookeville won their respective championship games.
Region 4-1A
The Clarkrange Lady Buffaloes are back atop Region 4-1A as they defeated Clay County in Wednesday’s championship, 57-32, behind 23 points from Kady Hopkins and 15 from Lydia Phillips. The Lady Buffaloes will host Van Buren County (25-6) on Saturday while Clay County will travel to Copper Basin (17-8) with a state tournament trip on the line.
Region 3-2A
York Institute won their third consecutive region championship as they defeated Jackson County, 67-44. Reese Beaty led all scorers with 34 points along with 10 by Raylee Werner. York will host Pearl Cohn (16-8) on Saturday while Jackson County will travel to East Nashville (24-1).
Region 4-3A
The White County Warriorettes won the Region 4-3A championship in an overtime thriller against Livingston, 64-58. Keely Mullins led Sparta with 21 points and 9 rebounds along with 16 points from Ava Jones and 13 by Gracie Clark. Livingston’s Ellie Butler poured in 35 points for the Lady Wildcats.
White County will host Lenoir City (19-13) on Saturday while Livingston will travel to Heritage (31-2) with a state tournament berth on the line.
Region 4-4A
The Cookeville Lady Cavaliers won their third region championship in four seasons on Wednesday as they defeated Lebanon, 45-32. Wednesday’s win avenges a last-second loss to the Lady Devils in last week’s district championship while also securing a home Class 4A sectional game for the Lady Cavs on Saturday. Cara Lee Gilbert led the way with 16 points along with 11 by Charlie Roby and 10 from Callie Reeder.
Cookeville will host Cleveland (24-8) on Saturday with a state tournament berth on the line.
