Jackson County, Pickett County Boys Earn Region Championship Victories

The Pickett County Bobcats and Jackson County Blue Devils are region champions following Thursday’s boys region championship game action across Tennessee. Results from each title game featuring the Upper Cumberland:

Region 4-1A

Fans got more than their money’s worth in Livingston on Thursday as Pickett County defeated Clay County in overtime, 65-64. Region 4-1A tournament MVP Jacob Amonett scored 15 points in the title game for the Bobcats while Nate Adams led Clay County with 20. Pickett County will host Van Buren County (20-12) on Monday in the Class A sectional round while Clay County will travel to Chattanooga Prep (20-7).

Region 3-2A

The Jackson County Blue Devils overcame a halftime deficit on Thursday en route to a 43-36 Region 3-2A championship victory over Liberty Creek. Junior forward Will McCrary was named region tournament MVP

Region 4-3A

The Upperman Bees fell in the Region 4-3A championship game in a battle of #1 seeds as the Tullahoma Wildcats defeated the Bees by a 59-51 margin.

Sophomore Mr. Basketball finalist Ty Cobb led Upperman with 35 points in the loss. Up next for the Bees is Monday’s Class 3A sectional game at Heritage.
