Pickett County girls basketball head coach Brent Smith has retired, according to a report from UCR’s Casey Bouldin who spoke to Smith directly.
Smith coached for a total of 28 years at all levels. His high school career including being the boys coach at Red Boiling Springs for three years before coaching boys and girls at Pickett County for a combined 23 years. His career at Pickett County included eight state tournament appearances highlighted by the 2024 TSSAA Class 1A state championship for the Lady Bobcats.
In addition to his coaching career Smith also won a state championship as a player at Pickett County.
Smith also served as athletic director at Pickett County. The school will immediately begin a search for a new coach.
