The Gordonsville Tigerettes earned their fourth victory of the week Wednesday night as they traveled to Baxter and defeated Upperman in shutout fashion, 7-0.
Senior Kailey Plumlee earned the victory in the circle as the University of Tennessee signee struck out 13 batters while surrendering only 1 hit and 1 walk in 5 innings. Callie Dillard closed the last two innings with 2 strikeouts, a hit and a walk.
Senior catcher Bailey Stewart led the Tigerettes at the dish as she went 2-3 with a home run, triple, 4 RBIs and a run scored.
After three scoreless innings, Camri Johnson got Gordonsville on the board with a single to left scoring McKenzie Herron followed by a Kat Johnson sacrifice fly to score Matty Walker, giving their team a 2-0 lead.
Stewart delivered a two-run homer to left field in the top of the fifth to extend Gordonsville’s advantage to 4-0. The Tigerettes tacked on 3 runs in the top of the sixth via a two-run Stewart triple and Paisley Underwood reaching home via a passed ball.
Up next for Gordonsville is a non-district contest on Monday against Smyrna High School at Cumberland University in Lebanon at 4 p.m. Upperman is scheduled to face Macon County on Monday.
