The DeKalb County Tigerettes’ historic 2025 softball season added more hardware Wednesday in Lawrenceburg as the Tigerettes defeated Lawrence County 11-1 in 6 innings.
Senior lefty Kora Kilgore struck out 9 batters while surrendering 3 hits and 0 walks on 77 pitches. Kilgore, Zayleigh Bain and Bryna Pelham each went 2-4 at the plate with Bain and Pelham driving in two runs each. Right fielder Tatum Young went a perfect 3-3 at the dish with a stolen base and 3 runs scored.
After a scoreless first inning, DeKalb County ripped off four runs in the top of the second via back-to-back Lady Wildcat errors and a pair of grounders from Hannah Brown and Rylee Wilbur.
A two-out single from Bain in the top of the fourth tacked on a run to give DeKalb County a 5-0 lead. The Tigerettes kept their offense rolling in the top of the fifth with five runs to extend their advantage to 10-0 on hits by Maggie Hendrickson, Bain and Pelham along with a Lawrence County error.
Lawrence County scored a run in the bottom of the fifth before DeKalb County’s Tatum Young scored in the top of the sixth to give her team an 11-1 lead. Kilgore retired the Lady Wildcat batters in order in the bottom of the sixth to secure the region championship.
Up next for DeKalb County is the Class 3A sectional round with a state tournament berth on the line. The Tigerettes will host Region 3-3A runner-up Lenoir City (16-14) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
