The Gordonsville Tigerettes’ quest for a third consecutive Class A state softball championship is one game closer following their 6-0 victory over Hollow Rock-Bruceton in Wednesday’s second round.
Senior pitcher Kailey Plumlee struck out 11 batters in the win while allowing 4 hits and 2 walks. Gordonsville tallied 5 hits in the win from Kat Johnson, Abby Brinkley, Laura Thompson and 2 by Camri Johnson.
After a scoreless first, all six Tigerette runs came in the bottom of the second inning on two hits, an error and a steal of home by Kali Underwood.
Gordonsville will play Thursday at 11 a.m. against the winner of Halls and Hollow Rock-Bruceton (at 9.m.). A win clinches Gordonsville’s state championship berth while a loss will force a second game at 4 p.m.
