The TSSAA state softball tournament record for runs in a game (24) nearly fell Wednesday afternoon as the Gordonsville Tigerettes scored 21 in the first inning to defeat Halls, 21-0.
Gordonsville had 26 at-bats in the bottom of the first inning with catcher Bailey Stewart and shortstop Kat Johnson recording two hits each. Stewart hit a two-run homer and a double with 4 RBIs.
The Tigerettes only hit once as Halls conceded after the top of the second inning to make the final score 21-0. Gordonsville is scheduled to play again on Wednesday in the winners’ bracket against Hollow-Rock Bruceton at 5 p.m. at McKnight Park.
