UCR EXPERT PREDICTIONS Presented By TLT Sports Performance: Week 5

Friday, Sept. 19, 2025

Noah: 35-11

Justin: 35-11

Jacob: 35-11

Goose: 34-12

Guests: 31-15

This week’s guest picker is Matt Wilson, the owner of UCR title sponsor Turf Masters Landscape Management. Wilson is the father of recent Upperman graduate Alec Wilson, who currently plays baseball at Carson-Newman.

Beech at Upperman (Mayberry’s Furniture GOTW)

Noah: Upperman 41-28

The Bees welcome in Kaden Powell and the Buccaneers into the Hive for a premier matchup. The Bucs have been a little hot-and-cold, struggling defensively at times against solid offenses with mobile quarterbacks. Their offense, however, is physical and impressive with a host of weapons.

Upperman’s offense has been unstoppable through 4 games, and ultimately I think that’s the difference as they get a statement win.

Justin: Upperman 31-30

This one has ‘thriller’ written all over it in Baxter this week. Give me the Bees in a nail-biter.

Jacob: Upperman 42-28

The Bees have looked dominant the last two weeks since their loss at Greeneville. They’ll be tested on defense this week, but I think Upperman’s offense will be the key difference in this one in Baxter.

Goose: Upperman 28-21

Upperman hosts a top-10 ranked Class 5A program this week in Beech, which is led by a Kentucky baseball commit in Kaden Powell at quarterback. Upperman will have their work cut out for them but should win a physical game against the Buccaneers.

Wilson: Upperman 28-20

Give me Upperman. Physical hard nose defense wins!  28-20.

White County at Livingston (UCR2)

Noah: White County 28-14

This game comes down to one thing, can Livingston hang in the trenches against the best offensive line they have faced all season, and can White County slow down Kaden Weitzel. Both are easier said than done, but football games are won and lost in the trenches and it is hard to pick against the Warriors right now.

Justin: White County 35-21

The biggest game in the Upper Cumberland this week kicks off in Hogeye as White County travels to Livingston. Sparta is LEGIT up front so give me the Warriors.

Jacob: White County 28-14

White County’s size has been impressive the last few weeks and it’ll be on display tonight. If the Warriors can limit Kaiden Weitzel’s opportunities to get in the end zone I like Sparta’s chances. Expect the Warriors to stick to their identity and run the football and the clock down in this one.

Goose: White County 21-20

I’ve been excited for this game all week and it’s been hard to pick a winner. I think Livingston has more explosive weapons in the skill positions (Kaden Weitzel, Jesse Gentry, Rocco Carwile & Adrian Jenkins), but I value the line of scrimmage so much and White County has one of the best fronts in the entire Upper Cumberland. Give me the Warriors in an instant classic.

Wilson: White County 28-14

Tough one to pick out here. Give me White county 28-14. I believe their run game will be too much for Livingston Academy up front.

DeKalb County at Macon County (UCR3)

Noah: Macon County 28-20

DeKalb County added new life to their season with their win over FCS last week. Macon County will have to be ready for a big jump in competition from the first few weeks of the season, a fast start for DeKalb wouldn’t surprise me. Ultimately, the Tigers from

Lafayette find a way to win at home.

Justin: Macon County 28-21

These two played a heck of a game last year and this year should be no different. I like Macon in a close one.

Jacob: Macon County 35-14

The Tigers of Macon County have taken care of business so far in their defense of the 4A title. DeKalb County got a big win last week against FCS, but the competition gets a lot tougher this week. I like Macon County to continue taking care of business as they start region play.

Goose: Macon County 24-14

Region 4-4A play kicks off for the defending state champions this week against DeKalb County. DeKalb’s found new life with some tweaks on offense and should pose a challenge to the Tigers in blue. I’ll take Macon County at Pat Parker Memorial Field in a dog fight.

Wilson: Macon County 28-17

Give me the defending state champs. Macon is just too fundamental.

Cookeville at Wilson Central (UCR4)

Noah: Cookeville 15-14

I think Cookeville is better than their record, and I think Wilson Central has had a very workable schedule. That being said, I have gone back-and-forth all week on this pick, but I think the Cavs are the better team despite the record.

Justin: Cookeville 28-24

Cookeville found some life offensively last week and I think this is the week they put it together. Give me the Cavaliers.

Jacob: Cookeville 21-12

The Cavaliers need a win in the worst way possible this week. The Cavs have put together good first halves in three of their games this season. I expect them to do that this week and complete the second half as well. Give me the Cavs to get back on track.

Goose: Cookeville 24-7

Cookeville finds their rhythm this week and has a complete performance en route to a region win.

Wilson: Wilson Central 21-14

Give me Wilson Central. Cookeville is talented but they need to come together. Love the QB, but the missed big-play opportunities really hurt them this year.
