EXPERT PREDICTIONS Presented By TLT Sports Performance: Playoffs Round 1

Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025

Jacob: 90-20

Justin: 89-21

Noah: 88-22

Goose: 88-22

Guests: 88-22

This week’s guest picker is our very own Colin Castleberry. Colin is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and can be heard on games across the UCR Media Network throughout the year.

Loudon (5-5) at Stone Memorial (9-1) (Mayberry’s GOTW On UCR)

Noah: Stone Memorial 42-7

The Panthers defense locks down a one dimensional offense and Noah Potter has another big night.

Justin: Stone Memorial 38-24

Stone hammered Loudon the last time they saw them, but don’t expect the Redskins to just lay down and take another loss. They’ll come up the mountain fired up and can  give Stone a game, but I’ll take the Panthers to close out strong.

Jacob: Stone Memorial 42-14

The Panthers have already beaten Loudon once this season 42-21 at Loudon. I think Stone is a better team than they were in week five when these two first met. The Panthers have been great defensively these last three weeks. Stone handles business and moves on to round two.

Goose: Stone Memorial 49-7

These two played at Loudon earlier this season, where the Panthers handled business en route to a 42-21 win. I think Stone is better now than they were in week 3, while injuries have hampered the Redskins.

Colin: Stone Memorial 35-17

While I think Stone is a better team than they were when these teams met earlier this year, I think Loudon might be as well, and that is a program that is very prideful. The Panthers have home field advantage and a better team, but I definitely think this is the closest game on the broadcast lineup tonight.

Signal Mountain (4-6) at Upperman (8-2) (UCR2)

Noah: Upperman 42-0

Better team at home, Upperman sets up a showdown with Alcoa.

Justin: Upperman 42-7

Upperman rolls. We’ve seen this first round game script a time or two in Baxter.

Jacob: Upperman 49-0

Bees dominated this game last year in round one and I don’t see this year being any different. Upperman takes care of business before a state championship caliber match up in round two.

Goose: Upperman 49-0

It should be business as usual in Baxter as the Bees open their Class 4A playoff run with a familiar foe. Tonight’s goal is to avoid injuries and play clean.

Colin: Upperman 52-0

The Bees face a familiar foe that they have handled easily in the past. The game isn’t up on the mountain, and therefore Upperman will coast to a matchup that might be the game of the week across the state next week, and maybe the game of the year, as it could determine who plays for the state title several weeks later.

Cookeville (4-6) at Oakland (10-0) (UCR3)

Noah: Oakland 42-7

The Cavs completely turned their season around after fall break but Oakland is simply too powerful. They roll to another championship.

Justin: Oakland 56-14

Cavs improved the last month of the season. Not enough to take down this juggernaut.

Jacob: Oakland 35-7

The Patriots have earned the number one ranking in the state and are playing like it. Defensively, they’re only allowing 5.5 ppg to their opponents and have shutout six teams on their schedule in the regular season. Cookeville has played some great football these last three weeks, but I think that comes to an end in Murfreesboro.

Goose: Oakland 42-7

Oakland is the best public school football team in Tennessee, and they’d give the top TSSAA D2 programs a run for their money. Tough draw for the Cavaliers, who have absolutely found their stride the last quarter of the season. But you play the game for a reason, and I’d love to revisit this take if the Cavaliers shock the world.

Colin: Oakland 45-3

I honestly think this is a worse looking game than Upperman and Signal Mountain. As good as the Cavaliers have been, this is a brutal draw for them, on the road, and their defense can only hold up so long, while their offense is made one dimensional by an elite Patriots squad.

Macon County (7-3) at Red Bank (6-4) (UCR on Friday)

Noah: Macon County 28-21

The Tigers have an advantage with the wing-T against unfamiliar foes, they get it done again as a very dangerous 4 seed.

Justin: Macon County 28-24

The defending champs fight on for another week. Never pick against the Tigers in the Chattanooga area.

Jacob: Macon County 28-14

It’s time for the (almost) annual Macon County at Red Bank playoff match up. This will be the fourth time they’ve met in the playoffs since 2021 with the Lions leading the series 2-1. However, the Tigers won the last match up two years ago in the second round and I think Macon County takes care of business this year as a four seed. I like the size and discipline of the Tigers up front to set the tone and move on to round two.

Goose: Macon County 31-14

Macon County hits the road to open the Class 4A playoffs as they head to Red Bank. The Tigers may be the 4 seed, but their championship pedigree will be the difference down in Chattanooga.

Colin: Macon County 35-24

My score is more an indication of the game getting out of hand earlier, and some garbage time points being obtained. This is a game we have seen before, and while Red Bank is at home, and that I think keeps it closer, Macon just has too much fire power, and I think is motivated to make a statement in round one after the way their season played out.

White County (7-3) at Hixson (5-5)

Noah: White County 28-14

Justin: White County 14-13

Jacob: White County 28-14

Goose: White County 17-7

Colin: White County 24-10

Copper Basin (3-7) at Clay County (9-1)

Noah: Clay County 42-0

Justin: Clay County 44-7

Jacob: Clay County 42-0

Goose: Clay County 49-6

Colin: Clay County 45-6

York Institute (1-9) at Gordonsville (10-0)

Noah: Gordonsville 35-7

Justin: Gordonsville 45-10

Jacob: Gordonsville 28-7

Goose: Gordonsville 35-8

Colin: Gordonsville 35-14

Smith County (4-6) at Bledsoe County (8-2)

Noah: Smith County 21-20

Justin: Bledsoe County 22-18

Jacob: Bledsoe County 21-14

Goose: Bledsoe County 28-21

Colin:Bledsoe County 24-17

Jackson County (6-4) at Marion County (9-1)

Noah: Marion County 35-14

Justin: Marion County 27 Jackson County 13

Jacob: Marion County 28-14

Goose: Marion County 35-7

Colin: Marion County 28-10

Red Boiling Springs (0-10) at South Pittsburg (9-1)

Noah: South Pitt 63-0

Justin: SP 59-0

Jacob: South Pittsburg 52-0

Goose: South Pittsburg 56-6

Colin: South Pittsburg 56-0
