UC Basketball Top 5 – Week Of January 4, 2026

Holiday tournaments are done and play in the Upper Cumberland begins this week. Check out this week’s UC Top 5:

Girls:

1. Cookeville (14-1)

The Lady Cavaliers have won 7 straight games including championships in the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational and Tellico River New Years Classic. CHS faces Knoxville Catholic on Tuesday before opening district play Friday at Lincoln County.

2. Upperman (14-3)

Winners of nine straight games, the Lady Bees won the BSN Holiday Classic in Florida before winning the AJB Lady’s Classic in Greeneville. They’ll open district play on Friday in a top-5 matchup against White County.

3. Stone Memorial (14-2)

The Lady Panthers dropped their first two games of the season vs CAK and Lipscomb Academy before earning double-digit wins over Pearl Cohn and Tullahoma. They open district play at home on Friday against Livingston.

4. York (13-2)

Winners of eight straight games. The Dragonettes won the Frank’s Christmas Shootout with a 36-30 win at White County before winning the Gulf Shores Beach Bash. They open district play Tuesday at Monterey before a Friday meeting with Smith County.

5. White County (17-2)

The Warriorettes earned runner-up finishes in the Frank’s Christmas Shootout and Sunshine Classic before a 85-48 win over Van Buren County. They’ll face Warren County before a top-5 matchup against Upperman in Baxter on Friday night.

Boys:

1. Upperman (13-4)

The Bees won the Florida Elk’s Christmas Tournament before a 2-2 trip to Bristol in the Classic at TN High, falling to nationally ranked Bishop O’Connell by 2 and one-loss Bearden. They’ll face Riverside Christian before opening district play on Friday in a top-5 matchup against White County.

2. Pickett County (16-2)

The Bobcats have won nine games in a row including championships in the Hammer’s Hardwood Classic and Nera White Christmas Tournament. They’ll host Cumberland County on Tuesday before opening district play against Clarkrange on Friday.

3. Cookeville (11-3)

Winners of four straight, the Cavs defeated the TN Heat 60-45 on Saturday. They’ll travel to Knoxville Catholic on Tuesday before opening district play at Lincoln County on Friday.

4. Jackson County (13-3)

The Blue Devils bounced back from a 1-2 Florida trip with wins over Cumberland County (KY) and Livingston. They’ll open district play Tuesday at Clarkrange.

5. White County (12-1)

Winners of 10 straight, the Warriors returned from a long layoff with a 70-48 win over Van Buren County. They won the Frank’s Christmas shootout with a 56-53 win over Cannon County.
