EXPERT PREDICTIONS Presented by TLT Sports Performance: WEEK TWO

Week Two (Friday, Aug. 28)

Week two’s guest picker is White County girls basketball coach and UCR sideline reporter Michael Dodgen. Be sure to heckle him when you see him on the sidelines this season.

UCR GOTW Presented by Mayberry’s Furniture: Greeneville at Upperman

Noah: Upperman 28-21

0% chance I’m picking Greeneville. Beyond that, this should be a fantastic football game. 2 contrasting styles. If the Bees can be above 60% on 3rd down they win, if not, Ricker and company will throw it all over the yard.

Jacob: Upperman 21-14

This is a heavyweight fight if there ever was one. The Bees like to toss it around the yard and get it to their athletes on the edge while Upperman is going to run it up the middle and dare you to do something about it. I expect the Bees to handle time of possession again and win another close one in a great football game.

Goose: Greeneville 24-21

Perhaps the best matchup in Tennessee tonight as two Class 4A powers clash in Baxter. Greeneville/Upperman matchups typically happen in state tournaments, but we get a treat week two with this one. The Bees’ stout run game will be hard to stop, but Greeneville’s shown the ability to be explosive and Upperman will need to limit the big plays. I’ll take Greeneville in a thriller.

Dodgen: Upperman 28 Greenville 27

Upperman wins in a close one Friday night at Billy C Rodgers.

Justin: Greenville 24-23

UCR2: Westmoreland at Macon County

Noah: Macon County 28-14

A rivalry where you throw records out the window. The Tiger defense was fantastic last week against Fulton, and I expect another stout performance on their home field.

Jacob: Macon County 28-14

Another great rivalry game for the Tigers early in the season. Look for a better start to the game for Macon County in this one especially being the first home game of the season. The defense looked great last week and the offense was really fun to watch. I think this Macon County team continues to improve as the season goes and picks up a big win in week two.

Goose: Macon County 35-14

The Tigers’ home opener against an old-school rival is fitting for #Team100 in Lafayette. A few week one miscues kept the Tigers from running away with their game last week, and I expect them to be cleaner this week and pull away for a win.

Dodgen: Macon County 27-6

Justin: Macon County 24-17

UCR3: Franklin Road Academy at Cookeville

Noah: FRA 28-21

The Cavaliers looked fantastic last week, and they’ve got a real shot here, but FRA is a top 6 team in the state regardless of classification. They get the nod, but don’t rule out an upset.

Jacob: FRA 35-28

This should be all kinds of fun with two offenses that looked really really good in week one. The Cavaliers impressed me in week one and I hope I’m wrong for a second straight week on my pick, but FRA is loaded with athletes who are really hard to limit in space. I think FRA gets the job done on the road.

Goose: FRA 35-21

Franklin Road Academy is one of the best teams in Tennessee *period*. I was really impressed with the Cavaliers last week and they’ll have their hands full with a really good FRA team. Cookeville can win this game, but it’ll take an A+ performance.

Dodgen: FRA 34-27

Justin: FRA 31-21

UCR4: Livingston at Warren County

Noah: Livingston 28-0

HOGEYE puts on a show worth a $400 fee.

Jacob: Livingston 35-7

The Wildcats had maybe the best offensive performance in the Upper Cumberland last week and I expect them to have an offense worth $400 this week on our audio only broadcast. Wildcats win big again.

Goose: Livingston 35-6

One of the biggest challenges for inexperienced football teams is consistency. Livingston looked like a $400 steak last week, and the biggest challenge for coach Qualls and the boys in week two is keeping that high level of execution going. Ultimately I think they get the job done on the road.

Dodgen: Livingston 33-13

Justin: Livingston 56-0

Justin: White County 27-10
