The week 11 guest picker is our very own producer, Cameron Hughes. Cameron is always behind the scenes keeping UCR afloat despite Noah calling him the Geico Caveman on air.

UCR GOTW Presented by Mayberry’s Furniture: DeKalb County (4-5) at Livingston Academy (5-4)
Noah: Livingston 21-14
Dog fight. Two teams desperate to end playoff droughts and this one is as even as you could get on paper. I’m picking Livingston because they are at home and they’ve shown an ability to be more explosive, but this DeKalb defense is legit and could absolutely swing the game the other way.
Jacob: Livingston Academy 28-14
The playoffs begin a week early for these two teams trying to keep their seasons alive. DeKalb got a great win last week to put themselves in the running for a playoff spot while the Wildcats are looking to bounce back. LA has played great at Tom Davis Memorial Stadium this year (4-0 to be precise) and have bounced back well after losses this season. I think the Wildcats get back into the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
Goose: Dekalb County 17-14
The playoffs are on the line in HOGEYE on Friday, and this game is maybe the biggest toss-up we’ve had in my time at UCR. Every metric, score comparison and stat is almost dead even between these two. I’m leaning Dekalb for one reason: the Tiger defense and special teams. Dekalb’s defense has been great in toss-up games, and they have an X-factor few teams have in Adrian Prater at kicker. I’ve missed on 5 Dekalb picks this season though, so who knows in this one.
Cameron: Livingston 17-7
Both teams have had very good seasons, and I expect a very competitive battle with the playoffs on the line. Coach Shaw has had his team playing very well, particularly on defence. Having said that, the Wildcats have shown they have explosive playmakers who can bust this game wide open that the Tigers will struggle to match.
Justin: Livingston 21-20
UCR Midstate GOTW: Upperman (6-3) at Macon County (8-1)
Noah: Macon County 28-14
The health of Colton Johnson is a gigantic unanswered question. If he plays it could swing the game the other way. Pat Parker will be rocking, and the Tigers are playing with a swagger we haven’t seen since 2024. They’re executing better right now, so I’ll take Macon County.
Jacob: Macon County 21-7
Macon County is as hot as anyone in the UC right now (outside of Sparta maybe) and the Bees might be out one of the top football players in the country in Colton Johnson. For those reasons I like the Tigers to handle business at home and have a home playoff game next week.
Goose: Macon County 24-14
One of the best rivalries in the Upper Cumberland writes another chapter in Lafayette this Friday as Macon County hosts Upperman. The Tigers have found their groove on both sides of the ball, and think a late touchdown puts this one away for coach Shoulders’ boys.
Cameron: Upperman 28-14
After last week’s loss against White County, Upperman is going to come out fired up against their biggest rival. Macon has been playing very well and Coach Shoulders always has his guys ready to play, but an Adam Caine coached football team playing angry is a lot for any team to overcome. Macon will keep it close for 2, maybe 3 quarters, but the Bees will just be too much to overcome.
Justin: Macon County 35 Upperman 21
UCR2: Lebanon (7-2) at Cookeville (4-5)
Noah: Lebanon 28-21
Win-and-in for the Cavs vs A revenge game for the Blue Devils. I like what I’ve seen out of Cookeville the last few weeks but Lebanon is a well balanced explosive team. Nothing would surprise me in this one.
Jacob: Cookeville 28-21
The Cavs have played great football the last couple of weeks with their best game of the season last week against Mt. Juliet. Cookeville is peaking at the right time and Easton Davidson is a big reason why. Lebanon comes in with a lot on the line including a possible region championship. I’ve been riding with the Cavs the last few weeks and I’m sticking with them to make the playoffs.
Goose: Lebanon 24-21
The Region 4-6A playoff picture comes down to the wire this Friday as Cookeville hosts Lebanon. This one should come down to the wire, and I’ll take the Blue Devils in a nail biter.
Cameron: Lebanon 28-7
Lebanon has been very impressive in district play and appears much improved over last year. Cavs have been playing very inspired football the past two games, but the Blue Devils have the wind in their sails. Death by a thousand cuts type of football game.
Justin: Cookeville 22-16
UCR: Clay County (3-6) at Jo Byrns (6-3) (Thursday)
Noah: Jo Byrns 21-14
You’re welcome for the bulletin board material, Bruce.
Jacob: Clay County 21-14
Region 4-A has belonged to the Bulldogs since Bruce Lamb took over. Jo Byrns has one of their best seasons going in a long while. I think Clay has found some nice rhythm the last two weeks and that continues this week in a tough place to play.
Goose: Clay County 22-14
We get a region championship game this Thursday as Clay County travels to Jo Byrns. The records don’t tell the whole story as Clay County has played a tougher schedule to date. I’ll take the Bulldogs in an instant classic.
Cameron: Clay County 24-7
Clay enters this game with a very misleading record. When you compare common opponents both these teams have played, Clay has a higher margin of victories. Jo Byrns has had a very successful season, but this region still runs through Celina.
Justin: Clay County 31-27
