The Stone Memorial Lady Panther volleyball team opened their 2025 season in the win column Monday afternoon as they swept non-district foe Smith County, 3-0.
Stone Memorial trailed 7-2 in the first set before rallying to take a 15-11 via anĀ Adrianna Mann kill. The Lady Panthers held their lead and won the first set, 25-19.
Smith County again took an early lead in the second set as they jumped out to a 4-0 advantage before Stone Memorial retook the lead at 12-11. Stone Memorial surged ahead to win the second set 25-20 before cruising to a 25-11 victory in the third to win 3-0.
Monday’s season-opening victory is the first in head coach Brooklyn Buck’s career. The Lady Panthers (1-0) hit the road for their District 7-2A opener Tuesday evening as they travel to Watertown (0-1, 0-1) at 6 p.m. Smith County is scheduled to host Cumberland County (1-0) in non-district play also.
