The Cookeville Lady Cavaliers (16-6) won their fifth consecutive match Tuesday evening as they swept District 7-3A foe White County, 3-0.
“We played together and ran our offense,” said Cookeville head coach Logan Hicks. “I’m proud of them; they did the little things right and came out with the win.”
Cookeville’s Taylor Owen closed out the first set with a kill to give the Lady Cavs a 25-18 victory and 1-0 advantage. Cookeville controlled the second set to win 25-16, setting up their 25-14 third-set victory capped off by an Ella Hardin ace to secure the sweep.
“I always tell the girls to not get relaxed,” said Hicks. “We need to put the pressure on them. I was very impressed with Emma Cook; tonight was the best night she’s hit the ball.”
The Lady Cavaliers are back in action on Thursday as they play at Lebanon in District 7-3A play while White County travels to Warren County.
“We’ve got to keep the right mindset,” said Hicks. “We’re going to enjoy this win and get back to work in practice.”
