UCR’s weekly UC Top 5 basketball rankings were revealed on the UCR Basketball Show Presented by Fire & Vine Wednesday evening with movement across the boys and girls lists.
Girls
1. Cookeville (6-0)
Cookeville opened their week with a big win over Stewarts Creek on Tuesday and looks to keep their over four-year long home winning streak (50 games) alive Friday against Knox Catholic.
2. Stone Memorial (6-0)
The red-hot Stone Memorial Lady Panthers picked up back-to-back wins over Heritage and Grace Christian Academy to close out last week and improve to 6-0. Stone Memorial hosts Clarkrange on Thursday.
3. White County (5-0)
The 5-0 White County Warriorettes host #5 York Institute on Thursday in Sparta as they look to keep their undefeated start going.
4. Upperman (5-1)
The Lady Bees opened this week with a 48-25 win over Oakland and travel to Lebanon on Friday.
5. York Institute (3-0)
The Dragonettes are 3-0 with wins over Jackson County, Pickett County and McMinn Central to start the year. York travels to #3 White County on Thursday for a top-5 showdown.
HONORABLE MENTIONS: Smith County, Cumberland County, Van Buren County
Boys
1. Upperman (5-2)
Ty Cobb dropped 42 on Oakland to open the week, and the Bees travel to Lebanon on Friday.
2. Jackson County (6-1)
The Blue Devils fell to Eagleville on Saturday before earning an 80-46 win over Gordonsville on Tuesday. Jackson County travels to Jackson, TN, this weekend for tournament action.
3. Stone Memorial (2-2)
Stone Memorial earned a win over Pickett County to open last week before splitting contests with Eagleville and Gatlinburg-Pittman.
4. Pickett County (5-1)
Pickett County has reeled off three straight wins and travels to Oakland this Friday for non-region competition.
5. Cookeville (3-1)
The 3-1 Cavaliers beat Stewarts Creek 53-49 on Tuesday and host Catholic on Friday.
