Gordonsville Opens 2026 With Sweep of Red Boiling Springs

The Gordonsville Tigers and Tigerettes opened 2026 with a pair of wins Monday evening as they swept Red Boiling Springs in non-district action. The girls opened with a 50-45 victory followed by the boys cruising to a 55-24 victory.

In the girls game, Lily Brock led a balanced Tigerette offense with 15 points along with 13 from Derionna Bell and 11 by Milly Storie. Rylee Bray led Red Boiling Springs with 18 points followed by Zoe McDuffee with 14.

Gordonsville led 8-6 after one period before the Lady Bulldogs took their first lead of the evening with 6:59 remaining in the first half via an Ali Bates cut and layup to put her team up 10-8. The Tigerettes responded to retake a 16-11 lead at halftime.

Gordonsville controlled the third quarter as they outscored Red Boiling Springs 22-10 in the frame to take a 38-21 lead after three periods. Red Boiling Springs didn’t go away quietly in the fourth quarter as the Lady Bulldogs stormed back to within one possession (46-44) via a Sidney Massengille three-pointer with 35.4 seconds remaining.

After trading a free throw each, Bell put the game out of reach via a transition layup with 19 seconds remaining to give the Tigerettes a 49-45 lead. Gordonsville tacked on one more free throw before the final buzzer to win 50-45.

In boys action, Gordonsville controlled the contest from the opening tip as they jumped out to a 12-0 lead via a Camrix Stott three-pointer with 5:28 remaining in the first quarter. The Tigers led 24-5 after one quarter and 43-8 at halftime before winning by a 55-24 final score.

Stott led the Tigers with 14 points along with 8 by Aidan Miller.

Both teams are back in action on Tuesday as Gordonsville hosts Watertown while Red Boiling Springs travels to Clay County in District 7-1A action.
