The York Institute Dragonettes (26-7) won their fourth consecutive region championship on Wednesday as they defeated Smith County 38-37 in the Region 3-2A title game.
Senior forward Emma Cooper was named tournament MVP as she dropped 15 points and 6 rebounds for the Dragonettes. Josie Ashburn, Emma Cooper, Cali Franklin, Raylee Werner and Emma Pile were named all-tournament for York Institute.
Up next for the Dragonettes is the Class 2A sectional round on Saturday as they’ll host East Nashville (21-5) with a state tournament berth on the line. Smith County will travel to Pearl Cohn.
