The DeKalb County Tigerettes clinched their berth in the upcoming Region 4-3A tournament on Wednesday as they finished runners-up in the District 8-3A tournament.
DeKalb County advanced out of the consolation bracket with a 14-5 win over Macon County before falling to Watertown in the championship game, 12-3.
The Tigerettes put up 8 runs in the top of the fourth inning to fuel their 14-5 win over Macon County. Left fielder Hannah Brown went 4-5 at the plate with a home run, a double, 7 RBIs and 2 runs scored while shortstop Rylee Wilbur went 2-4 with 3 runs scored and a triple in the victory.
Wednesday’s win over Macon County in the consolation bracket extended DeKalb County’s season as they advanced to the championship game against host-school Watertown afterwards, where they fell 12-3 to finish runners-up. Regardless of the championship result, DeKalb County advances to the Region 4-3A semifinals next week as a #2 seed while Watertown will host and be the #1 seed from 8-3A.
Their opponents from District 7-3A have yet to be determined as that district tournament is still underway at Livingston Academy this week.
