The Stone Memorial Lady Panther volleyball team completed the regular-season sweep of their cross-town rival Cumberland County on Tuesday as they defeated the Lady Jets in District 7-2A play, 3-1.
“The girls really had energy and confidence in themselves,” said Stone Memorial head coach Brooklyn Buck. “We dropped the third set, but the girls came back from it.”
Stone Memorial won the first two sets by 25-19 and 25-12 margins. Cumberland County battled back to win the fourth, 25-22, before Stone Memorial closed out the win by a 25-18 margin in the fourth set.
“My defense played great,” said Buck. “Especially Brooke Wilson, Mia Jones and Vadyn Bosanko. My setter, Arden Leffew, had a great game. Lauren Clark always comes up big and got us going for sure.”
The seven previous Stone Memorial/Cumberland County volleyball matchups dating back to 2024 had went to five sets before Stone Memorial’s win on Tuesday snapped the streak.
