FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 22, 2016 UPDATE: Pedestrian in Last Week’s Hit and Run has Died Cookeville, TN – As reported earlier, a motorist observed a man lying on the south side of 10th Street just east of Washington Avenue last Wednesday evening, September 14, at approximately 10:00 p.m. Officers arrived and discovered the man was critically injured. The man, now identified as 26 yearold Samuel Florea, was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. Mr. Florea died yesterday, September 22, as a result of his injuries. It is possible that Mr. Florea was struck by a vehicle while he was attempting to cross 10th Street. The Cookeville Police Department is attempting to locate a vehicle that was seen traveling east on 10th Street from Mr. Florea’s location. That vehicle is described as a dark colored SUV.
