Bluegrass Ablaze to perform at Central Park Livingston

Bluegrass Ablaze to perform at Central Park Livingston on July 14

Bluegrass Ablaze, Volunteer State Community College’s student bluegrass ensemble, will perform on Friday, July 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the new Central Park located at 140 S. Spring St. in Livingston.  The event is free and open to everyone.

The ensemble is led by banjo legend Mark Barnett, who bought his first banjo from Earl Scruggs at age nine and has been wowing audiences ever since, playing with the likes of Loretta Lynn and Tennessee Ernie Ford. Since forming in 2012, Bluegrass Ablaze has recorded two CDs and has toured Ireland in support of bluegrass studies at Vol State.  They have also performed at the Music and Molasses Festival, the Sumner County Bluegrass Jamboree, the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center and numerous other venues and events.

Vol State offers an Associate of Science degree in Bluegrass Music.  Courses include private instruction in vocal, guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dobro and banjo.  For more information about Bluegrass Ablaze or Vol State’s bluegrass program contact Ben Graves at 615-230-4886 or e-mail benjamin.graves@volstate.edu.
