WCTE’s ‘The Middle Years’ Premieres Sept 24th

The Middle Years, the fourth episode in WCTE’s original documentary series titled Growing Education, will premiere on Thursday, September 24 at 7 p.m. CDT, with additional airings on October 4 at 6 p.m. and October 22 at 7 p.m. This series on ‘cradle to career’ education is part of American Graduate: Let’s Make it Happen, a public media initiative supported by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to address the national dropout crisis.

The Middle Years focuses on 1st through 7th grade, vital school years that are imperative to a child’s success in the classroom and beyond. This period can hold many challenges for students and parents, including issues of poverty, mental and emotional health problems, parents finding time to visit their child’s school, and bullying. In this episode, WCTE talks to local educators and community partners who address these challenges and possible solutions.

Lee Wray, WCTE American Graduate Project Manager, shares, “We hope parents and caregivers are learning from this Growing Education series. We’re so thankful to the Putnam County School System and other partners and community members who continue to contribute to this effort.”

WCTE is found on Charter cable channel 8 and DISH and DirecTV channel 22. For more information about the American Graduate initiative and to view Growing Education: The Middle Years online, visit wcte.org/amgrad.
